Mattoni Label, original etching

Mattoni

The wings motif on Coldplay’s album inspired Mattoni 1873 to collaborate with Míla Fürstová, resulting in the launch of a limited edition of bottles in 2018. On the label, she depicted the dream of a boy named Heinrich Mattoni, the brand’s founder. The dream that eventually became reality. She attempts to tell a universal story about a childhood dream that, with enough determination, can come true. She also sees water as a symbol of the flow of human life, vitality, and hope.

Making of a billboard

The etching Learning to fly is based on Míla’s advertisement for the Mattoni 1873 company. She transformed the motif of wings in connection with water into themes closest to her heart. The children playing with glimpses of Míla’s two worlds symbolise her eternal flight from the islands to the mainland. The wings in this etching represent the security of a family, which is rich in cultural heritage and can help children fly.

Short film

The advertising campaign was accompanied by a promotional short film, Sen o vodě (Dream of Water), directed by Peter Hirjak. The commercial’s style is a tribute to the long tradition of Czech animation. “It is one of the most interesting commercials to come out of domestic animation production in recent years and has therefore rightly been included in the collection of the National Film Archive”.
