Coldplay

The collaboration with the renowned British band Coldplay was a break-out moment for Míla. Overnight, she became a famous and sought-after artist who captured the general public’s attention.

Míla and the band members worked intensively together and influenced each other in the creation of the images and in the composition of the melodies, and vice versa. They had to get under each other’s skin. Everything was kept top secret nothing could leak from the project. Coldplay’s recording studio was filled with Míla’s artwork whilst she listened to the new album for hours in her studio. Míla doesn’t usually listen to music while creating, as she must be in tune with what she is thinking, but this time, she felt it was a beautiful part of the creative process.

Wings became the central theme of the entire album, inspired by Míla’s etching Blue Dream III, which depicts an angel with wings interwoven with human stories. The most outstanding achievement for Míla was that the artwork on the album was recognisably hers, even though the music was written by someone else.

As part of the collaboration, she made the cover art for the Ghost Stories album and the artwork for four singles: Magic, True Love, Sky Full of Stars, and Midnight.

Their collaboration was later captured in a very poetic documentary, Wings for Coldplay. It tells the story of a passion for creating, painting, composing music, pushing forward, and finding new limits and solutions, even when fate does not present us with an easy path. On top of her heavy workload, Míla discovered she was pregnant again. It was then that she realised the enormous strength that motherhood had given her. As she herself said, “Growing a new life inside me helped me believe I could do anything”.
